Background
Given the continuous engagement of the Rural Pact Community, one of the main objectives of the Rural Pact is to encourage and recognise voluntary commitments to act and inspire others.
Commitments reflect diverse initiatives advancing the shared goals of the rural vision to make rural areas stronger, more connected, resilient, and prosperous by 2040.
A range of actions can be recognised as commitments towards vibrant rural areas: from communication and knowledge sharing, to rural development strategies; from events, networking and capacity building, to research and evaluation; or even actions in your daily life!
The commitments are a result of the 2022 Rural Pact Conference and have been strengthened through an interactive website tool. This enables Community members to propose and showcase commitments, gain visibility, and inspire future action.
The added value of submitting a commitment is the possibility to highlight key rural needs, demonstrate the power of rural action through good practices and, once critical mass is reached, influence policy agendas.
