The meeting brought together RPCG members and Rural Pact Support Office (RPSO) national experts to address how the Rural Pact and Vision can be moved forward across EU countries and regions.

Meeting participants planned concrete actions to be implemented by the RPCG member organisations in the following weeks. In particular, RPCG members will contact national and regional governments to encourage them to commit with concrete actions contributing to the Rural Pact and Vision objectives. All government commitments will be made available on the Rural Pact Community Platform.

Additionally, participants discussed ways of bringing the Pact down to the local level, emphasising the need to listen to local actors and learn from existing experiences. The upcoming Policy Lab ‘Bringing the Rural Pact closer to citizens’ on 22 May 2024 will offer an opportunity to Rural Pact members to continue the exchange around this relevant topic.

Meeting participants also exchanged on the latest relevant EU-level reports, including the long-term vision: key achievements and ways forward, the ninth cohesion policy report, and the high-level group report on the Future of Cohesion Policy. They took stock of the RPCG priority actions for 2024 implemented by members, as well as of the actions taken forward by the European Commission and the Rural Pact Support Office.

Presentations from the third RPCG meeting are already available and the highlights report will be published shortly.
