Actions for the rural vision

‘Actions for the rural vision’ are existing or forthcoming voluntary initiatives that members of the Rural Pact Community freely choose to undertake and share. There is no obligation or financial compensation. The aim is to demonstrate how these actions contribute to the EU’s long-term vision for rural areas. Everyone can contribute according to their capacity and no action is too small!

Who can propose and submit an action?

Anyone and everyone! You can contribute in your individual capacity or on behalf of your organisation. Whether you are a citizen or public authority representative, an entrepreneur or academic, a farmer or NGO, we would like to hear from you.

What action can you propose?

Actions for the rural vision may take many forms and reflect the diversity of stakeholders engaged in the Rural Pact. Identify an action that you or your organisation is willing to implement or already has carried out in order to enhance the development of a rural area. This could be:

  • Policies & advocacy – public authorities, NGOs, and citizens can propose strategies, debates, and initiatives that strengthen rural development policies. Example: Catalan Rural Agenda Governance
  • Capacity building & knowledge – NGOs, researchers, civil society actors, and citizens can share training, workshops, and peer learning. Example: Rural Affordable Housing Best Practices
  • Events & networking – NGOs, researchers, civil society actors, businesses, and citizens can organise gatherings to connect, exchange, and inspire. Example: Local inclusive employment participatory lab
  • Local Projects – public authorities, NGOs, civil society actors, businesses, and citizens can put forward tangible initiatives on the ground. Example:  From "small homelands" to smart villages
  • Other – any other action on the ground, implemented in a rural area can add value to the rural vision.

By sharing your action, you help amplify rural voices, gain visibility and recognition, show leadership, foster collaboration, and influence policy debates across Europe.

How can you propose and submit an action?

  1. Create your member profile on the Rural Pact Community Platform, unless you already have one, and log in.
  2. Navigate to ‘Actions for the rural vision’ in the main website menu and click the ‘Share your action for thriving rural areas' button to fill in the online form.
  3. Review and save your proposed action.
  4. After a quick review, we will publish it on the website.
