Launched in 2024, the RCF aims to strengthen community-led responses to climate and ecological challenges by providing financial support, capacity-building and networking opportunities. It focuses in particular on initiatives rooted in local communities, including those working with marginalised or underrepresented groups.
Selected projects will receive small grants, access to training and opportunities to connect with a wider European network of practitioners. In addition, participating communities will contribute to knowledge exchange and awareness-raising activities at European level.

For rural areas, the Regenerative Communities Fund highlights the importance of local, place-based initiatives in addressing environmental and social challenges, while fostering innovation, participation and resilience at community level.
The initiative is part of the broader Funding Fairer Futures programme, co-funded by the European Commission, which seeks to strengthen inclusive and community-driven approaches to climate action.
ECOLISE is a European network established in 2014, which supports community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability. It brings together networks and local initiatives to facilitate exchange, collaboration and capacity building, while contributing to European-level dialogue on community-led action.
