The report specifically explores the greening within the common agricultural policy (CAP) and the EU’s Farm-to-Fork strategy, calling for a system approach to tackle challenges related to the environment, health, society, and economy.
It argues that trends need to be reversed in dietary patterns and health outcomes, employment quality, food affordability, consumption footprint, energy consumption, and waste generation. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable agriculture practices, and reducing food waste are also deemed essential. The report calls for a concerted effort to enable low-emissions agriculture, combining policy ambition, community engagement, and support for vulnerable actors.
Overall, the report analyses 154 quantifiable targets across key sectors such as climate, energy, circular economy, transport, agriculture and food, ecosystems and biodiversity, water, soil and air pollution.
