A new study by the European Parliament’s Research Service explores the efficacy of European response mechanisms, particularly the EU’s Cohesion Policy, in the context of Europe’s forest fires of summer 2022.

The publication argues that existing mechanisms require enhanced management strategies, including community involvement and preventive measures. Improved governance, focus, and distribution of funds would increase the effectiveness of Cohesion funding in preventing and managing wildfires.
