The seventh meeting of the Rural Pact Coordination Group (RPCG) provided an update on the European Commission’s proposals for the post-2027 EU policy framework and budget; sought feedback on Rural Pact Support Office (RPSO) activities in 2026 and 2027; and discussed future priorities and approaches to stakeholder engagement on rural matters.
This meeting focused on how RPCG members can continue to contribute meaningfully to ongoing discussions on the post-2027 EU policies and the Multiannual Financial Framework. Building on the RPCG Declaration and any related position paper, members reflected on how to promote their joint messages strategically at EU and national levels, ensuring that rural perspectives are effectively represented in the evolving policy framework.
The meeting also introduced the main activities foreseen in the RPSO Annual Work Programme for 2026. RPCG members were invited to identify complementarities with their own initiatives, explore opportunities for collaboration, and share priorities that could help shape the strategic orientation of the RPSO Annual Work Programme for 2027.
Finally, members exchanged views on the future of stakeholder engagement on rural issues at EU level. The discussion aimed to identify practical and effective ways to sustain dialogue among rural actors, strengthen multi-level governance, and ensure that rural voices remain visible and influential in the years ahead.
