This highlights report presents the main policy measures, practical examples and key takeaways from the Rural Pact Good Practice Webinar on rural competitiveness held on 17 September 2026.
The event explored approaches to strengthening rural businesses and diversifying rural economies, with a focus on finance and business support, territorial assets and social economy models.
The report highlights:
- EU-level initiatives supporting rural business competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship;
- practical examples of improving access to finance and business support, creating value from local resources, and developing social economy and collective business models;
- stakeholder perspectives on the conditions needed to strengthen rural business ecosystems, access new markets and investment, and retain economic value locally.
