The new network aims to encourage local and regional politicians to disseminate the benefits the EU can bring. It intends to bring the EU debate closer to local communities by engaging more effectively with elected representatives: mayors, regional presidents, and councillors.

Network members benefit from a range of tailored products and services, including study visits to Brussels, training sessions, workshops to enhance understanding of EU functions.
The aim is to enable them to reach out more effectively to their constituents on EU matters, for example through local events or regular discussion of EU issues at council meetings.
The network – jointly managed by the European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission – was officially launched on 10 April 2025 and already counts 3 000 participants.
