Implementation of maritime and fisheries funding support 2014-2023
The latest European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) implementation report examines how EU Member States have used available funding and the impact on key policy objectives. It highlights enhanced implementation of Community-led Local Development (CLLD) in fisheries and aquaculture areas, including for SME competitiveness in remote communities.

The report, developed by FAMENET, notes progress in Local Development Strategy implementation and an increase in funding by EUR 51 million, from EUR 573.2 million in 2022 to EUR 624.2 million in 2023.
In total, the EMFF supported over 145 000 operations across EU Member States during the 2024-2023 period, with Spain, Greece, and Italy making up 52% of these operations. It allocated EUR 3.13 billion to boosting SME competitiveness, mostly in remote communities.
