Through the call, SMART ERA aims to transfer its results and methodology to up to four new regions not covered by its own pilots, engaging new local communities and demonstrating the replicability and impact potential of the project’s approach.

Selected applicants will act as micro-pilots, replicating the SMART ERA methodology by identifying their own regional needs and co-designing new ‘smart innovation packages’. These are tailored toolkits, co-designed with rural communities, that combine digital technologies with non-technological strategies, such as innovative business and governance models.

Successful candidates will receive up to EUR 90 000 for consortia and up to EUR 60 000 for individual applicants. Additionally, they will participate in a 12-month mentoring and support programme.

Eligible entities should be legally registered in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe associated country.

Applications can be made between 12 June and 15 September 2026 through the dedicated form
