EU public consultation on sustainable tourism: have your say by 15 August

The ongoing European Commission public consultation will inform the new EU strategy on sustainable tourism, expected in early 2026. Stakeholders within the tourism ecosystem; national, regional and local authorities; private sector and civil society actors are invited to provide feedback to raise concerns and suggestions when it comes to rural tourism.

The consultation offers an opportunity to highlight both key priorities and emerging challenges, building on the Transition Pathway for Tourism and EU Agenda for Tourism 2030.

The forthcoming sustainable tourism strategy will seek to address overcrowding in tourist hotspots, environmental sustainability, shortages in digital and green skills, and the need for stronger crisis resilience.

It will aim to ensure that tourism in Europe remains competitive, sustainable, and inclusive, addressing the expectations of citizens, businesses, and regions.
