Announced in the Commission’s Vision for Agriculture and Food, the Women in Farming Platform aims to help increase the number of women engaged in farming businesses and foster dialogue, learning and cooperation.
The platform offers the opportunity for members to connect with peers across the EU, facilitating the development of mentoring initiatives and promoting the sharing of best practices.
The platform will create a network of mentors which will bring together experienced farmers and those at earlier stages of their professional journeys. Mentoring activities will focus on practical, business-oriented topics tailored to the needs of women farmers.
Additionally, the platform will highlight model female farmers, showcasing successful women and normalising women’s leadership in farming.
Membership of the platform is open to individuals residing in the EU and working in farming and agriculture-related fields. Interested stakeholders should submit their applications by 30 April 2026.
Women play a crucial role in European agriculture, often driving innovation, sustainability and diversification in rural economies. However, they continue to face structural barriers to access to land, finance and training and resources. The United Nations declared 2026 the International Year of the Woman Farmer, encouraging the development of activities to spotlight women involved in farming.
