The chatting on citizen energy webinar series, organised by the European Commission’s Citizen Energy Advisory Hub, explores the different activities that citizens are taking part in to advance the energy transition. The fourth meeting will focus on renewable energy for farmers.

Featuring presentations from academics, policy experts and regulators, this webinar series discusses the legal frameworks at EU and national level facilitating steps from self-consumption of renewable electricity to flexible demand response.

The fourth meeting will tackle how and why farmers may want to begin a renewable energy project on their land for self-consumption or share renewable energy with their neighbours. Through the lens of two examples from Belgium and Ireland, it will examine the different benefits that renewable energy can bring to farmers in terms of cost-savings, stability and community engagement, and the particular challenges these communities face.

These sessions are open to all members of the Citizen Energy Network.
