Description

Establish a network of rural cinemas using Digital Cinema Streaming (DCS) technology to bring new film releases, catalogue films, operas, ballets, and live cultural events to villages and small municipalities without cinema facilities. The initiative uses existing local venues such as town halls, libraries, community centres, and social clubs with minimal and affordable audiovisual equipment.

The initiative will provide a regular cultural programme, including live discussions and interactive events with film directors, authors, and other cultural actors, encouraging community participation and creating new social and cultural gathering spaces in rural areas.

    Expected Outcomes

    Restore access to high-quality cultural services in small rural communities, strengthen local social life and community cohesion, reduce isolation, particularly among older people, and increase the attractiveness of rural areas through a regular and accessible cultural offer. The project will help revitalise public spaces, encourage community participation, and create new opportunities for cultural engagement across rural territories.

    Final results

    Create a scalable network of low-cost rural cinemas enabling 2 000 small villages and municipalities to access new film releases and cultural content under conditions comparable to those available in urban areas. At the same time, the initiative establishes a sustainable cultural programme that revitalises local social life and improves quality of life in rural communities.
