European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen launched on 25 January 2024 a new forum mandated to shape a shared vision for the future of EU's farming and food system. Discover how the dialogue will go about its work, what will be its main focus, and when it will present its conclusions – listen to the latest episode of the Food for Europe podcast.

Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture

The Strategic Dialogue will address challenges and opportunities, such as a fair standard of living for farmers and rural communities, supporting agriculture within the boundaries of our planet, exploiting the potential of knowledge and technological innovation. Listen to an exclusive interview with the chair of the Strategic Dialogue, Peter Strohschneider, in the new episode of the Food for Europe podcast (also available in French and German)!

The new forum brings together 30 key stakeholders from across the whole agri-food chain, including farmers, co-operatives, agri-food businesses, and rural communities; as well as non-governmental organisations and civil society representatives, financial institutions and academia. By combining different perspectives, the dialogue aims to foster the creation of new solutions and to bring about a common vision for the future of the EU agriculture and food sector by summer 2024.
