The European Commission is seeking stakeholder feedback to develop a new strategic approach to agricultural research and innovation (R&I). Submit your answers to the questionnaire by 25 January 2026.

The consultation will inform the preparation of a new EU strategic approach to foster the competitiveness, resilience and sustainability of agriculture, forestry and rural areas. It will update and replace the current strategic approach for agricultural R&I, which dates back to 2016.
The new agricultural R&I strategic approach was announced in the European Commission’s Vision for Agriculture and Food, launched in February 2025. It will support the competitiveness, sustainability, resilience, and fairness objectives of the Vision.
Stakeholders are invited to share their views on new opportunities arising from the current policy context. These will contribute to the identification of priority R&I thematic areas, bolstering the uptake of new knowledge and innovation by farmers, foresters and rural actors and revamping the entire innovation journey.
The questionnaire takes around 15-20 minutes to complete and is intended for rural communities, researchers, innovators, farmers, foresters, cooperatives and associations, advisors, businesses and private sectors, NGOs.
