Local and regional authorities across Europe are invited to take part in a new initiative to strengthen citizen participation in the energy transition. Apply by 30 January 2026 to host a Citizen Energy Panel – a one-day event where residents come together to discuss energy and climate challenges and co-develop practical local solutions.

An initiative of the Citizen Energy Advisory Hub (CEAH), the Citizen Energy Panels aim to build trust, foster dialogue, and support smarter, community-driven energy policies. Municipalities of all sizes – including rural and small-town areas – are eligible to apply. Selected authorities will receive comprehensive support from CEAH, including technical guidance, facilitation training, ready-to-use materials, communication toolkits, and on-site expert assistance, as well as help with analysing outcomes and translating them into action.

Information sessions will take place on 27 November and 15 January for interested municipalities. Applications are open until 30 January 2026.

The CEAH is a European Commission initiative designed to promote a bottom-up approach to the energy transition across the EU in order to enhance citizen participation and strengthen the social dimension of the Energy Union.
