The call for proposals aims at helping emerging energy communities in developing a business plan.

Selected participants will receive a lump sum grant of €45,000, support through a capacity building programme and access to peer-to peer-exchanges. The grant is intended to support activities including technical and financial assessments, pre-development tasks, legal and administrative procedures and staff costs.

The call is open to legal entities from the 27 EU countries, Iceland, Moldova, North Macedonia and Ukraine which comply with the EU definition of energy community.

Applicants can submit their proposals by 5 July through the dedicated portal. The business plans can be written in the national language.

The European Energy Communities Facility is a project funded under the LIFE programme which aims to empower the development of energy communities across Europe. From 2024 to 2028, it will assist at least 140 energy communities in building strong business strategies through grants and tailored capacity-building support. Managed by an international consortium of experienced organisations, the European Energy Communities Facility is supported by a network of 29 national experts.
