New toolkit to help strengthen migrant participation at local level
A new toolkit intends to support European municipalities and communities in involving migrants in the design and implementation of local integration policies. It offers concrete tools and practical methods for local authorities, civil society groups, migrant-led organisations, and researchers.

The toolkit, developed under the EU-funded EPIC-UP project, compiles tested approaches for engaging migrants in the decision-making processes by offering adaptable methods for different local contexts, ranging from large cities to smaller towns.
The toolkit is structured around three main pillars:
- Effective communication covering strategies to connect with diverse migrant groups, taking into account their varied needs, languages, and experiences;
- Community mobilisation techniques including methods for engaging and empowering hard-to-reach groups, ensuring that all migrants are able to participate in their communities’ integration processes;
- Methods for public consultation, participation, and dialogue bringing together tools for ensuring meaningful engagement with migrant communities in policymaking processes.
The EPIC-UP toolkit is available in English, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, and Spanish.
