The EU-funded RENOVERTY project has released two sets of resources aimed at supporting a just energy transition in rural areas across Europe. The new policy briefs and country-specific factsheets are intended to equip policymakers, practitioners, and community stakeholders with the tools needed to replicate successful strategies.
Seven multilingual policy briefs are designed to align rural building renovation strategies with the EU’s revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The briefs showcase a participatory approach, engaging citizens, local authorities, and Local Action Groups in co-creating rural energy efficiency roadmaps (REERs) for complying with the EPBD while addressing energy poverty and enhancing living conditions in underserved communities. The briefs are available in Italian, Hungarian, Croatian, Spanish, Slovenian, Estonian and Portuguese.
A set of factsheets present data-driven energy efficiency solutions tailored to rural households in seven countries. The factsheets identify regional disparities in energy poverty – particularly in Central Eastern, Southern Eastern, and Southern Europe – and underline the need for bespoke approaches to overcome technical, financial, social, and regulatory barriers. The factsheets are available both in English and in the national language of each case-study country.
