The report outlines policy needs and opportunities in rural areas, the range of funding resources and their specific characteristics, and highlights the added value of using multi-funding for rural development through 12 case studies. It argues that multi-fund projects have the potential to deliver high-impact results by fostering innovation, strengthening resilience and ensuring inclusivity, and calls for continued support for such initiatives.
The publication emphasises the importance of improved guidance and enhanced capacity-building efforts to overcome administrative complexity and limited local capacity when combining EU funds to address diverse rural needs. It highlights collaborative governance, community engagement, innovation and strategic approach as key factors for a successful implementation of multi-fund projects.
