Irish minister Humphreys publishes new Statement of Strategy for the Department of Rural and Community Development

Irish Minister Heather Humphreys T.D. presented a new Statement of Strategy for the Department of Rural and Community Development on Tuesday, 8th August 2023.

The Strategy, focusing on the period 2023 to 2025, aims to promote rural and community development across Ireland, ensuring vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities.

Underpinning their rural vision under "Our Rural Future” the plan will continue to revitalise rural towns and villages, enhancing opportunities and quality of life. The Statement outlines the Department's dedication to strengthening community structures, building resilience, and fostering social cohesion.  Minister Humphreys and Minister of State Joe O’Brien are fully on board with driving the department's five strategic goals forward. Developed after deep consultation with stakeholders, these goals are not just words on paper; they are a roadmap for uplifting rural communities. From boosting the economy to empowering local voices, the focus is clear and rural-centred. What adds weight to this commitment is the collaboration with the Department of Agriculture. Together, they're working on key initiatives like the Rural Development Programme and aligning with EU rules through the LEADER programme. It's a unified, focused effort to make rural areas thrive.
