Checklists on sustainable tourist mobility

A new set of checklists covers aspects such as coordination and cooperation, communication, arrival and departure, onsite mobility, and management to enhance tourist mobility in rural and coastal regions.

The checklists, originally produced by the Austrian Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, were translated to English by the EU-funded SMARTA-NET project for potential replication in other countries.

Additionally, the project is developing two practical tools to support rural regions in adopting more sustainable mobility solutions. Look out for the forthcoming tools:

  • Self-check on sustainable tourist mobility for rural regions: to help evaluate tourist mobility and identify areas for improvement;

  • Knowledge maps: to provide information on rural mobility planning through interactive models.
